Retaining Wall Builders
Define and add gardening space with a retaining wall
To expand usable garden space, create definition between outdoor spaces, and
prevent erosion, retaining walls are not just a functional solution—they
provide an aesthetic boost as well.
Though adding a retaining wall to your landscape is not considered to be a
difficult project, it is a lot of work and can take up time you may not have.
Also, another consideration is what type of retaining wall is needed. Typically,
anything higher than three feet requires a permit. A dry stack wall using railroad
ties or landscape blocks from a big box home improvement store is managable
for many of us, but if you want brick or stone and mortar, drainage is a prime
consideration. That's where a professional with hardscape experience can help.
Before hiring any contractor, make sure you obtain copies of current licensing
as required in your state, general liability and Workers' Comp insurance, and
project references that you can check. Calling the Better Business Bureau is
often a good idea to make sure there are no unresolved complaints against
your contractor. Read your contract completely and question any detail that
isn't clear.
Once it's complete, your new retaining wall will provide plenty of curb appeal
for your home.
